Our Interim Minister: Reverend Dr. Harvey Weitzel

The Reverend Dr. Harvey Weitzel assumed the role of interim minister at St. Michael's Lutheran Church on February 5, 2024. He can be reached by email at pastor@stmichaelslutheran.org. His office hours at the church are on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 1:00 PM.

Pastor Harv attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA , receiving a Master of Divinity and was ordained on June 7, 1970. He received a Doctorate Degree in Pastoral Psychotherapy from Drew University in 1986. He served as a parish minister in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod for many years retiring from the Synod in 2006 and moved to Connecticut. Since moving to Connecticut he has served three congregations as Interim pastor as part of the ELCA, New England Synod.

Pastor Harv is “passionate about supporting and empowering God's people as they actively use their faith in living out God's mission for them in an ever changing world.”

Pastor Harv married his wife, Janice in 1964. They raised two daughters and have four grandchildren all currently attending college. Both Pastor and Jan originally came from Reading, Pennsylvania, and have lived in a variety of communities as they moved from congregation to congregation. Pastor Harv enjoys playing golf, and painting in oils as well as world travel with Jan.
